As well, the fields in which philosophy majors worked were very diverse, ranging from business and finance to social sciences and government to arts and culture.
As a Philosophy major, you are developing the ability to:

- analyze concepts, definitions, arguments and problems
- organize ideas and issues, deal with questions of value, and extract what is essential from masses of information
- distinguish fine differences between views and discover common ground between opposing positions
- synthesize a variety of views or perspectives into a unified whole
- present ideas through well-constructed, systematic arguments

In addition to preparing one for graduate study in philosophy, a philosophy major is one of the best preparations available for graduate study in law, business, political sciences, education, and many other faculties.
